    The IFoA announced yesterday:
"... that we will deliver all IFoA exams on our current platform in their established format in April 2024.
This includes the delivery of our CB1 and CB2 exams in their current format rather than as Objective Based Assessments (OBA) which we previously indicated."

We (ActEd) are currently working out how best to support you with your studies including which products we can usefully release, or re-release, for the benefit of all students.

We will release further information as soon as we can.

Following the IFoA’s recent announcement that the CB1 and CB2 exams in April will now be in the “established written assessment format”, we are making the following changes to our products:

    Series X Assignments and Marking

We are releasing new assignments in the traditional format. These will be based on the 2023 assignments but updated for any changes in the syllabus and course structure.
For CB1 there will be three 100-mark assignments.
These will be made available through the relevant course in The Hub. The assignments previously produced (for OBA) will continue to be available in the same course, to use if you wish. We plan to release the first two assignments in the next week and will add the others as soon as possible.
You will be able to purchase Series X Marking for Subject CB1 soon. The deadline dates on our website will soon be updated for the new assignments.

    Mock Exams

Traditional mocks exams are being produced, based on the 2023 version but updated for changes in the syllabus. These will be distributed in the new year as eBooks, ie the same format as for other subjects. The main Mock Exam is included in the CMP but is also available to be purchased separately. Two further Mock Exams are available within the Additional Mock Pack (AMP) for each subject.

Mock Exam Marking will also be available to purchase soon for use with the main Mock Exam. Marking Vouchers can be used if marking of the additional mock exams is required.

    Online Classroom

We will be re-releasing an Online Classroom. It will be on sale soon and released to students in stages. It will be based on the 2023 version, updated for any syllabus and course structure changes where possible. Content for any new syllabus items will not be included.

    ASET

ASET will also soon be available, only as an eBook. It will include the relevant questions from the 2014-17 and 2019-21 exam papers.

    Tutorials

Tutorials will continue as scheduled but be focused on the traditional exam format.

We do not plan to release any Revision Notes in these subjects this year. We believe the combination of Flashcards and the enlarged ASET is a good alternative. Please email us if you have any questions.

Has the marking been released yet for CB1? I've done assignment X1 but can't see anywhere to submit it currently.

We're just finishing off the changes to the marking course in The Hub. You should be able to submit later this week.
    Best wishes

A minor follow-up to the above info about our products following the IFoA's announcement about the April exams:

    Course Notes
We do not plan to change the Practice Questions at the end of each chapter as these continue to provide useful practice. However, please now don’t use the ‘exam style’ icon in these sections as an indicator. Some of the questions that do not have this icon are ‘exam style’ now that the exam will be in its established written format. Some of the questions with the icon are no longer ‘exam style’ (although all of those that require choosing 1 from 4 multiple choice options do continue to be ‘exam style’).
