IAI / ASSA students

Members of the Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI) can purchase ActEd's CMPs (excluding PBOR, textbooks and Mock Exams) directly from the Institute of Actuaries of India. Any products not supplied by the IAI to its members can be purchased through our e-store. Please refer to the reduced-rate prices for details.

Certain resources in each subject are available in a dedicated 'Studying Subject' course within our online learning environment, The Hub. Access is provided automatically when you make a relevant purchase from us or else can be requested via our e-store.

You can use our marking services to improve your exam technique and gain valuable advice from our top team of markers on how to pass the exams. Assignments are submitted and returned using our online environment, The Hub.

If you are looking for some tuition to help you pass the exams then we recommend one (or more) of the following options:

  • Live Online Tutorials - Live Online Regular or Block Tutorials are ideal if you like the discipline and motivation of a structured and timetabled course, delivered by one of our experienced team of tutors, but are unable to travel to one of our face-to-face courses.
  • Online Classroom - The Online Classroom is valuable add-on or alternative to a Live Online tutorial, providing a series of tutorial units that you can access on demand.
  • Block Tutorials - if you are able to visit the UK for a few days then we recommend a face-to-face Block Tutorial held between 3 and 8 weeks before the exams.

View our Tutorial Bulletin to see what's on offer.

Details of the 2025 curriculum can be found on the Society's website.

Students who are studying for the F100 series may consider using the UK revision materials that are available for the equivalent UK SP series subjects. However, please read the following guidance, in conjunction with that given in the F100 series Study Guide.

F102

Subject F102 contains largely the same material as the UK Subject SP2 (which covers insurance products contingent on human life). Subject F102 also contains some material covered by the UK Subject SP1 (which covers insurance products contingent on human health). The revision products for the UK Subject SP2 would give good coverage of the Subject F102 syllabus for insurance products contingent on human life.

F103

Subjects SP7 and SP8 in the UK are, when combined, broadly equivalent to Subject F103. Therefore you should find the revision products for Subjects SP7 and SP8 useful. Bear in mind however that while there is a close correspondence between the South African and UK course material, Subjects SP7 and SP8 tend to go into more depth than F103 particularly for the more technical content, and at times they also refer to UK-specific issues.

F105
You can use Subject SP5 revision materials to help you prepare for the Subject F105 exam, however there are some differences in the courses. In particular there is material in Subject F105 that is not in Subject SP5. For example, Subject F105 contains additional material on:
  • corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions (in Chapter 7 of the Course Notes)
  • trust law (in Chapter 9)
  • the roles and responsibilities of directors (in Chapter 10)
  • South African equity and bond indices (in Chapter 15)
  • asset-liability modelling and risk-free returns (in Chapter 18).

In addition, the whole of the Subject F105 Course Notes (whether ActEd supplementary text or Core Reading) is examinable. Only Core Reading is examinable in the exams of the (UK) Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
