    Hi

Very simple question: anyone knows how to integrate this? I can't remember and can't find my old notes! :(

    It's integral { (x-100) / (50+x)^2 } dx

    and

    integral { (50+x)^-2 } dx

    Thanks!!

    Reasonableness check

Also, how did we arrive at the 30% and 100k average payment in the reasonableness check?

Are we required to provide such checks in the exam?

I figured out the integrations already.

For the first one, we need to rewrite the numerator as x+50-150, then split it into two parts. This makes the integral easier.

For the second one, we let u = x+50.

The reasonableness check is very rough and ready - anything reasonable would suffice.

Normally the examiners don't give marks for this sort of thing, but it's a good thing to do if you have time as it shows understanding and prevents a really silly answer!
