Using independent rates for calc. (ap)x

    Hi, I've seen in the revision booklets 2 different ways for calculating (ap)x. For eg, decrs. s and r., I've seen (1-Qs)(1-Qr), ie the use of the independent rates, and I've seen (1-(aQs)-(aQr)), ie. the use of the dependent rates. Are both ways ok for use in the exam?
