    Hi

I am about to resit ST4 after getting an FA in the last sitting.

I am just looking for general advice on how to interpret the examiners reports.

For the longer questions (say 10 marks) do you need every bullet point in the marking scheme? Also, do you need to expand or do the points they give have sufficient detail?

I think in my last exam I covered off most points they had with similar detail, although struggled with a few questions. So I'm trying to work out if it was the questions I struggled with that cost me or if I'm not giving enough points / detail overall.

    Thanks

A general rule of thumb is half a mark per bullet point. Sometime shorter easier points might be less, and others might be worth 1 mark, but vast majority are a half mark.

The examiner's report has extra points because not everyone is going to come up with the same points, especially for longer open questions. The report thus might have enough points so you could skip out 10% or 15% of the points and get 100%.

The level of detail in the reports should be the amount expected of you.
