    How a bank act as lender when it buys fixed interest securities?? And what is fixed interest security ?

    This'll be covered in more detail in Chapter 11. But suffice to say that a fixed interest security is a loan floated on the stock market (with fixed interest, unsurprisingly). So buy buying this security you are lending money to the issuer.
