Hi, September 2009 Q 5 (ii) asks to perform an analysis on the suitability of a bond for liability matching. The solution performs an immunisation test. I don't recall this being in the core reading, is it no longer on the syllabus? If it is still on there can somebody please reference the chapter of the core reading? Does anyone have a list of key topics no longer on the syllabus that could come up when doing past paper questions?
Hi. The detail of immunisation has indeed been removed from the course, although it does merit a few brief mentions in the reading (eg Chapter 19, section 2). BUT, the concept is relevant to ST5 and students are expected to be familiar with it from prior studies (although a repeat of that specific numerical question may be unlikely??). There is a recap of this and other concepts from CT8 at the end of Chapter 17. Similarly, the reading on regulation in ST5 has been slimmed down (assumed prior knowledge from CA1) but is very examinable.
