Hi I have read the TAS documents a few times, but am struggling to know how much of this it is necessary to remember for the exam. I know the purpose of each TAS, when it applies and the general areas that they cover (i.e. the core reading in the acted notes), but is it necessary to know these in more detail? It doesn't seem to have been examined much in past exams? Thanks
Hi Ali According to the syllabus objectives, and paraphrasing them slightly, for Pensions TAS you should be able to: "describe the subject matter of the specific Technical Actuarial Standard issued by the Board for Actuarial Standards on Pensions." Whereas for the other standards you should be able to: "discuss the implications, for the interested parties, in terms of the effect of the standards." So perhaps: - Pensions TAS is worth devoting more time to and also: - for a given TAS, the bits in the boxes contain the most important information, so again they may be worth devoting more time to. Hope this helps Best wishes Stuart Underwood ActEd Tutor
