Hi guys, is it a really bad idea to take ST7 or ST8 before CA1? I feel I need the long session to pass CA1...
No, I don't think it's a bad idea. You probably won't have enough time to give yourself a chance of passing CA1 in September so I think an ST is fine. I know lots of people who have passed STs before sitting CA1. If the next sitting was April then I would say do CA1 first but there's no harm in attemtping an ST first. I sat ST7 & ST8 in April and I would recommend that you do ST8 if you work in pricing - ST7 is pretty tedious to study! Best of luck
Thanks for that. I actually work in claim reserving but the ST7 exam lands on a religious festival of mine and I can't take it so am going to go for ST8 instead.
I believe that arrangements can be made for you to take the exam on a different date in such circumstances. Might be worth checking.
