    Hi!

For standard Normal distribution, N(x)=0.5 where x=0
In the table provided during exam, x is only in 2 digits

If we have x with more than 2 digits during exam time, do we have to interpolate to get the exact figure??

Or would it be sufficient to just round up x to 2 digits and read the corresponding value from the table?

    Does anyone know?

    Thank you.

I think you are usually expected to interpolate to get Normal distribution figures.

I usually consider x to 4dp is sufficient and interpolate using that.

    Thanks, didster!
I hope they won't have too many questions on that... finger crossed..

here is a similar thread with a tutor's comments on interpolation in exams (among other things).

I wouldn't bank on not getting a question using the normal distribution (where you need to interpolate) for (especially) CT3, and also CT4, CT6, CT8 and possibly ST5 and ST6 and possibly other exams as well.

I'd recommend you familarise yourself with it.

Dummy, I'm going to be a little more acute than Didster. If you are having trouble interpolating normal tables, now would be a good time to assess whether you wish to invest time in doing these exams
