The Profession has released the following statement about Subject ST6: Candidates for ST6 in 2006 are encouraged to refer to the textbooks: Options, Futures and other Derivatives, by J. C. Hull (6th ed), ISBN 0-13-149908-4, and Financial calculus: an introduction to derivative pricing, by M. Baxter and A. Rennie, ISBN 0-521-55289-3 in addition to the Core Reading issued for the subject. Reference should also be made to worked examples in ActEd material, the textbooks and past Certificate in Derivatives [CiD] exam papers. The statement was given in December's Education Noticeboard which can be found at: http://www.actuaries.org.uk/Display_Page.cgi?url=/students/nbdec05.html. Please find attached a note giving ActEd's view on which sections of these text books students should find most useful. Regards ActEd
If the core reading is not entirely adequate will Acted be extending their notes to ensure proper coverage of the subject, rather than to refer students to textbooks?
ActEd's course will not be changing this year. However, major changes are expected for the 2007 exams (the material available from September 2006). Regards
