Hi JUST WONDERED WHAT BEST STRATEGIES ARE FOR ST5 SOME OF YOU WILL HAVE SAT AND PASSED ST5 THIS YEAR - ALTHOUGH COURSE NOTES ARE SPLIT BETWEEN OLD 301/305 HOW DID YOU FIND THE EXAM QUESTIONS - WERE THEY MORE BAISED TOWARDS 301 OR 305 MATERIAL WERE THEY SIMILAR TO 301 AND 305 QUESTIONS AT ALL IF NOT, WERE 301/305 PAST QUESTIOSN ANY USE TO HELP PASSING THIS EXAM. ANY NASTY SURPRISES IN THE EXAM QUESTIONS THANKS
St5 I found that the ST5 exam was heavily biased towards the old 301 material. The middle section of ST5 contains all the numerical material (pricing swaptions, options etc), but this hasn't really come up in the exam. I'm not sure whether it's a conscious decion on the part of the Institute not to examine this heavily because ST6 already does this. By contrast, the old 301 material keeps coming up (e.g. behavioural finance, performance attribution etc). Good luck!
