    I wish to add some more to my prev.mail.I have passed almost all CT series subjects.In the apr.2006 diet I intend to take on ST4.As this will be my first st series subject I request all of you including tutor to assist me.
    Whether the solns. given in indicative solns are sufficient length wise.
    what about the level of grammar tested.
    In general what are the passing marks.In my experience in CT series I was able to pass papers If I was able to give correct solns. for about 60-65% of the marks
    What is the situation in ST series.
    Needless to add that I am an Indian and you people's help me a lot.

    IN LAST I WANT TO INFORM YOU THAT IF ANY OF OUR FRATERNITY FRIEND HAVE A DESIRE TO VISIT INDIA I SHALL BE HAPPY TO HELP HIM/HER ,IF ONE REQUIRES.

    Hello Pankaj,

    One of my directors maintains that you only need to get around 50% of the marks for ST subjects to pass the exam.

    In my experience, (I have passed 304 in the old syllabus) it is better to write your answers closer in form to bullet points than in neat prose and well constructed paragraphs. Where a question asks you for e.g. the factors to take into account when setting up a DC scheme;
    you will score more points banging out a list of 20 factors as opposed to spending the same amount of time fleshing out a few paragraphs on 7-8 points. This is, I believe, because the examiners work on a 'keyword' approach i.e. if the keyword is in their solution booklet and it appears on your answer then you get the mark with little regard to how you present it. This approach will allow you more time to try to think of all possible factors and give you maximum opportunity to show your knowledge.

    I hope this helps.

    All the best.
    Olly

    Thats something you would have to discuss with Acted. You should be able to find all details of costs and what is available on their website.

    Lets return to your question regarding grammar. In 'list' type of questions, this should not be an issue. Where you may have more difficulty is in the longer 'explain' type of question where you need to expand on your points. I'd recommend you stick to short sentences. By trying to add too much into a single sentence, it can lead to confusion for anyone.

    Spelling shouldn't be an issue providing your attempt is recognisable as the word you intend.

    Where you will face a larger hurdle is in the communications paper CA3. There are definitely explicit marks for spelling and grammar for that subject. So it is worthwhile brushing up your skills now you have the mathematical subjects behind you. I assume that you don't have CA3 yet as you only referred to CTs. Apologies (and congratulations!) if you have passed that hurdle.

    But on the whole, good luck. I doubt I could pass the exams in something that was not my first language.
