At the end of chapter 14 under the heading "End Of Course" they suggest looking at the specimen paper. Can anyone let me know what this is?! Are they just referring to the trial exam?! thanks
I think that is a generic comment. Specimen papers are made only after a change in syllabus. E.g. they have a spcimen paper for CT7 now. I dont think there is a specimen paper for CT3 at the moment. http://www.actuaries.org.uk/students/exams/preparing/exam_papers
There is no CT3 specimen paper currently. The Institute website says: "For new subjects CT7, ST7, ST8 and ST9, and for revised subject SA3 (in preparation for 2010 exams). Specimen papers are not available for other subjects as there is now a good selection of past papers that students can use for exam practice." My goodness - this is due to this page being unchanged since the change in 2005. My apologies - unfortunately the 2010 notes have been printed already - so I'm afraid I'll get it into the corrections document and then it'll go into the 2011 version.
