Significant Figure

    If its not mentioned in the question as to how many SF to calculate is it to my discretion.. as in in some of the model answers the answer is given upto say 3SF however the question does not mention we need to do so.. so in the exam if i don't do it marks wont b deducted right?

    I guess you can use that liberty in the final answer. But if you have decimal figures leading upto the final answer, then it will be best if you use the entire figure, as it appears in the calculator.

    Being pedantic I take it you mean decimal places and not significant figures.
    For example a fund of 12356.20 to 3significant figures is 12300 - quite different!

    Best leave interim calcs unrounded but at the end if its say a premium use usual currency ie 2dp.

    For probabilities from 3 to 5 significant figures is the norm.
