September 2013 Question 8 solution

The solution in part 1 says for Unit-linked Whole of Life to stay invested for long enough that volatilities in unit fund values are not a concern". What if equities are performing badly and never recovers, then volatilities are a concern, assuming unit fund is invested in equities also?
