    could anybody point me out to where in the core reading i can read about the binomial distribution in the Markov jump model?... i have not found it in chapters 5 and 10.
    i understand what binomial distribution means, and that it is a special case of the Poisson distribution (so it converges to Poisson when n is large). yet i found it difficult to apply the binomial distribution in the context of this question. According to the examiners, candidates demostrate 'a gap in knowledge', so i wonder if it is covered in the core material or you're expected to deduce it somehow? if it is not covered, can anybody recommend a book where i can read more about it.

    This binomial distribution is referenced in Section 7.1 of Chapter 3.

    See also Section 10.3 of Chapter 6, which relates to modelling using Markov Jump Processes, but refers back to Chapter 3.

    Oh thank you. i really needed to know where it is in the book, so to 'put everything in place'.
