could anybody point me out to where in the core reading i can read about the binomial distribution in the Markov jump model?... i have not found it in chapters 5 and 10.
i understand what binomial distribution means, and that it is a special case of the Poisson distribution (so it converges to Poisson when n is large). yet i found it difficult to apply the binomial distribution in the context of this question. According to the examiners, candidates demostrate 'a gap in knowledge', so i wonder if it is covered in the core material or you're expected to deduce it somehow? if it is not covered, can anybody recommend a book where i can read more about it.
