I sat ST1 and ST2 in April and I am now trying to decide whether to do SA1 or SA2.

I am involved with Life and Health insurance products in my day to day job and so my employer is happy for me to do either.

I didn’t really find either of ST1 or ST2 harder than the other. Both had their own tricky parts and some easy parts, though ST1 was a lot longer. I did however find that ST2 exam papers tended to be more standard and straightforward, with ST1 papers having a higher proportion of more tricky, unique and unusual questions.

Therefore, I was leaning towards SA2 and had always assumed SA2 would be easier. However, a friend who qualified last year, did SA1 and said that SA1 is supposed to be easier, as SA2 has a lot of nasty with-profits material in it.

So now I am unsure.

Does anybody else have any thoughts or opinions on which of SA1 or SA2 is easier?

Thanks
Matt
