This might sound daft but how does one go upon resigning at work? I'm at the point of signing contract with a new company but this is my first time. Do I do it verbally followed by a letter? Arrange a meeting with my manager???

Definitely verbally first and somewhere private so if the boss is hard to catch, yes book a meeting.

How that goes will depend on how surprised the person is with your news. Be prepared for questions like why? You may even receive encouragement to stay.

Afterwards it will need to be in writing and can be brief.

The secret is not to make enemies. The profession is small and in time you may want to return to the same firm as circumstances do change.

Good luck with the move. Commit yourself to your new world.
