    Hello,

I am considering taking Exam MFE - Financial Economics from SOA so that I may apply for exemptions from CT8. Any advise from experienced students, users, or tutors here?

    Hi

best place for these views is www.actuarialoutpost.com - US SOA forum

In MFE + early preliminary SOA exams, they are all multiple choice, so get no marks for working. SOA has published pass marks on there site and it looks like 60% for those exams. Some of the content in MFE seems more advanced than CT8 (in fact in some places more advanced than ST6).

As to which is easier - I personally think ours is -given you get credit for working - but others may have the opposing view.

However, if you take SOA route, there is multiple education providers (not just one like Acted here in England). Apparently, accoding to the discussion forum I outlined above, the best study manuals for MFE are produced by a provider called ASM.

    Hi Alex

Initially I planned to sit for MFE exam but after failing MLC and C, I realised how difficult multiple choice questions can be, escpecially when they do not award any marks for your workings. That is why I changed plans.

    Cheers:)
