    For single life annuities, we know that:

    a_x=adue_x -1

    Intuitively it makes sense to me that this relationship would also apply to joint life annuities, that is to say:

    a_xy=adue_xy -1

    Does this relationship hold? This is not confirmed in the core reading to my knowledge but intuitively it would make sense for it to hold I think.

    Hi Danny,

    Yes this relationship holds. Not the clearest in the course notes but it's implied at the bottom of page 18 of chapter 19.

    The only difference between a joint life annuity in advance and arrears is that first payment of 1 under an annuity in advance.
