For single life annuities, we know that: a_x=adue_x -1 Intuitively it makes sense to me that this relationship would also apply to joint life annuities, that is to say: a_xy=adue_xy -1 Does this relationship hold? This is not confirmed in the core reading to my knowledge but intuitively it would make sense for it to hold I think.
Hi Danny, Yes this relationship holds. Not the clearest in the course notes but it's implied at the bottom of page 18 of chapter 19. The only difference between a joint life annuity in advance and arrears is that first payment of 1 under an annuity in advance. Joe
