The notes at the start of each chapter keeps on referring to some textbook pages. What is that?

It refers to the core reading chapters.
The notes are based on the textbook-"Economics for Business by john sloman, 6th edition"
You will have to purchase that book!

You can purchase it from Acted or use the 5th edition from the online resources available on the actuariesuk site...i am using the 5th edition only

Hi,

We would always recommend using the correct version of the textbook, which is the 6th edition.

The details of the textbook are as follows:

Economics for business (Sixth edition)
John Sloman, Kevin Hinde and Dean Garratt

The ISBN is 978-0-273-79246-8.

Anna :)

What if I don't go through it? Will it be a big problem?

I wouldn't advise it - the textbook is the recommended reading for the course, and in the past there have been questions that test certain examples and "pause for thought" boxes in it.

You may find students who have passed without using the textbook. I certainly think this is possible for some students, however, I don't think all students would be successful.
