Quick question re: Q1, Assignment X1.1

Hi, while going over my assignments and trying to consolidate my knowledge, I'm found that I have a question about Assignment X1 Q1!!! (a bit embarrassed here about asking)

When trying to evaluate 2p[60], I wrote down that:

{2}p{[60]} = l{[60]+2}/l{[60]}

where the {} brackets indicate subscript.

Could someone please quickly explain to me why l{[60]+2} is deemed to be the same as l{62} as in the answers?

Is this because the select period is automatically 2? (And how do I know this fact? the question doesn't explicitly state what the select period is.)

thanks in advance :)

If you're using AM92, select period is 2.
Only values of l[x], l[x-1]+1, and lx given, so wouldn't be possible to do it otherwise.

Hey OZ, yep, it's just a property of the table we're given to work on. On AM92, the select is only for [x], and [x]+1, hence a period of 2. Therefore mortality of [x]+k = mortality of x + k, for all k >= 2.

Ahhhh, thanks so much. I didn't realise that the select period was "built into" the table.

I had a similar question with Q4.8 in CT5-04: where [55]+2 suddenly became 57 with no explanation. But thanks to you guys, I get it now :)
