    Question and Answer bank
    Part 4

    Question 4.1
A statistical test is used to determine whether or not an anti smoking campaign carried out
5 years ago has led to a significant reduction in the mean number of smoking related
illnesses. If the probability value of the test statistic is 7%, what is the conclusion for a
    test of size:
    (i) 10%
    (ii) 5%.

    Solution 4.1
    The hypotheses are:
H0 : The campaign has not led to a reduction in smoking related illnesses.
H1 : The campaign has led to a reduction in smoking related illnesses.

Cant H0 be taken taken as "The campaign has led to a reduction in smoking related illnesses."

  2. Ho is called null hypothesis because we assume that in Ho everythng is constant or same i.e. there is no change.. thatsy Ho always equals to som values..!
    .
So your Ho will be that there is no reduction in smoking related illnes..
