While writing the exam, am I expected to produce exact definitions as given in the textbook and the notes or is it fine to tweakthem as long as they make sense?

    Hi,

You're not expected to reproduce the exact wording of the definition as it appears in the textbook in order to score the marks (though that is perfectly acceptable.) Instead, you just need to convey the correct idea precisely using whatever words and phrasing achieve that.

The same principle applies more generally when describing or explaining any of the concepts in the textbook. :)
