    This maybe a very minor point, but why does the answer refer to page 168 of the tables and not page 164? Should we always be using the percentage point tables instead of the actually probability tables to do our interpolation.

    Actually it probably really isn't worth worrying about, however I can't find a way to delete a new thread!

    You're right for calculating probabilities we should really use p164-166 (and when we're given the probabilities and have to find the value we should use pages 168-9). However, it's always worth having a quick check to see if the value given is "fiddled" and just "happens" to be in the percentage points table - as this will save any interpolation! In this case the 1.064 just "happens" to be the value corresponding to 90%, whereas you would've had to interpolated on the other tables.

    You'll find this more on older exam questions too - as only the percentage point tables were the only ones given in the "green" Tables.
