Parts that require the most study

Up until now I have had a bad approach to studying in that I tend to take ages on the first few parts of a course and then have to rush the study of the last parts which are generally the more difficult to grasp.

Is this the same for ST2? Do I need to get through the course as quickly as possible or is it worth spending that extra time on the beginning chapters to build a solid foundation?

Each person is different and will find different bits of the course more challenging. A quick skirt through may help you ascertain which seem harder to you. Or take it as it comes. If you feel you aren't getting to grips with it, persevere.

Maybe set yourself 'best progress' and 'must meet targets' so that at least you will make the end of the course.

Quite often its not until you've done the whole thing pieces of the jigsaw fit together and some things are revisted in more detail later.
