    Hi all,

    In the CMP they combine
    \gamma_1 and \gamma_1.\alpha_1 into \gamma_i
how comes they dont combine \gamma_1.\beta_j with this, but instead introduce a new parameter \sigma_j?

    Thanks

    Hi Molly
Hope this is the right question!
the j is for motor insurance group, gamma_1*beta_j is a separate term which has been renamed/simplified to delta_j
if you tried to combine the i's and j's that would imply interaction
    Hope this helps
    Thanks Andrea

ah that makes sense, so i could have combined gamma_1 with gamma_1.\beta_j instead of combining it with gamma_1.\alpha_i, but i cannot combine anything with lettered subscripts as this would mean interaction as you said?
