    Hi,
I am realizing that the online classroom and the tutorial for chapters with derivations and formulae (eg: ch 15,16) are much more simplistic than the course notes. How much detail do we need to know about the mathematical proofs, derivations, definitions of the different topics for example the different ways to analyze factor significance. Just wondering if it's worth investing time in understanding and learning the mathematical parts or is knowing the process overview and formula application enough.

The online classroom and tutorials should not be simplistic than the notes, they merely try to explain things in a slower / step by step way which some students may prefer / find easier to follow. There is also not enough time in either product to regurgitate every proof or derivation that is in the Core Reading / Course Notes. In the online classroom and tutorials we focus on the material that people tend to find the trickiest and that comes up more frequently in the exam.

In theory any of the proofs / derivations in the Core Reading could be asked in the exam, so you will need to make your own mind up as to how much time to invest in understanding them. It is worth noting that the recent trend has been for fewer proofs / derivations to be asked in the exam and also you need to think about whether that will continue with the move to open book exams.
