On presenting mathematical solutions

While presenting mathematical solutions, is it sufficient to present the mathematical intermediate steps using a sample?

For example, in a question to estimate outstanding reserves, can I show the calculation for just one development factor from the triangle, or is a comprehensive step-by-step explanation for every factor necessary?
How are marks typically allocated in such scenarios? Will the 1 mark awarded in such scenario cover the entire method which can be depicted by a single sample representation, or is it awarded for presentation of each specific factor?

The IFoA Examinations Handbook says that you MUST include ALL working as part of your answer (their caps, their bold). Using examples is great, but they don't show your working in full - they just give a sample.
If in doubt: always show more working.
