Does anyone have a good idea on the # of marks needed to pass ST9? Also do I need to get a minimum # of marks on each question in the exam? Let's say there is a math question that I'm not familiar with. Can I skip the question entirely and focus my attention on other questions I better understand and on which I can score more marks?
In an interview published in The Actuary a couple years ago a former chief examiner said for the ST/SA series 50-55% should get you a pass. And no, there is no minimum per question. Total score is what matters.
Hi. Pass marks are not published by the IFoA. 50% could be a borderline score - you should definitely aim higher than this zhin200 is correct - there is no pass mark per question - you could (in theory) skip a question and still pass - but not a recommended strategy!
