The ST9 Core Reading for 2014 Examinations and the ActEd material reference the first edition (2003) of the textbook Enterprise risk management - from incentives to controls, by James Lam. This is the edition on which the examinations in 2014 will be based. A new, second edition (2014) of Lam is now available. There is an IFoA note setting out the adjustments that need to be made to the Core Reading references to required reading material if the second edition is used available here. Where a section is stated as being excluded, students may choose to read that section for information but it will not be directly examinable (as it is not in the first edition). ActEd will be publishing a note to help students with a 2014 ActEd CMP easily cross reference the relevant sections of the new edition. The new edition of Lam will be the basis for 2015 examinations.
