New job

Hi guys

I've been keen to change industries for a while now and I have just secured a job at a large general insurance consultancy team :D , leaving behind my 4 years of investment consulting ( primarily for pension schemese).

I'd like to be as prepared as I can for starting and if possible hit the ground running with some background knowledge on insurance. I've got 7 CTs and have just failed CA1 so anything from historic notes is already in my head of course ;)

Does anyone have any sources from which I could gleam some information? Preferably training stuff as opposed to insurance industry news. I am aware of www.insuranceday.com

Thanks

Jon

general insurance background reading

i'd say ST7 and ST8 would be a pretty good start. You'll probably know quite alot of it already, but generally i'd say it would be quite useful for anyone starting out in general insurance to read these. :)

Congratulations!

Not sure if this answers your question but if you have the time these are both useful papers to read about gi actuarial work:

Reading up on Solvency II might be useful. The consultancies themselves give good summaries e.g.

Swiss Re does some really excellent publications which might be helpful (although they often quite specific):
