Mortality Experience Process

Hi

The core reading mentions that the process involved for analysing mortality experience was tested in CT4 and is not applicable for ST2. However, the ActEd notes state that a brief outline would often be required. Was this ever tested in an exam and if so, could you please direct me to the relevant paper(s) to see what the "brief outline" entails?

Tx!

Analysis of mortality experience

Hi Actoid,

I've had a careful look through past exam questions and although analysing mortality experience has been referred to in solutions, it's usually more about why you do it or how you use the results, rather than the actual process. And even that has become less common in recent years, so we'll probably reword that sentence when we update this chapter.

For examples that touch on this area in at least part of the question, see:

Subject 302, September 2000, Q5
Subject 302, September 2002, Q5
Subject 302, September 2002, Q7
Subject 302, September 2004, Q2

So, if you're happy with "why do it?" and "how would you use results?" I wouldn't worry too much about the details of actual process as covered in CT4. Although, to be safe, and if you're very keen, you could re-read the relevant part of CT4 if you wish.
