Morbidity risk

    Hi there

    I'm not too sure what is meant by the sentence "there are actuarial difficulties with the methodology used to measure morbidity risk" on page 6 in chapter 1 on IP. Could you please explain what "difficulties" in the "methodology" are encountered?

    You will see more on monitoring morbidity risk in later chapters. Chapters 23 to 25 cover risk and Chapter 28 covers monitoring.

    For example, Chapter 23 page 6 discusses problems with model, parameter and random fluctuation errors. Chapter 24 page 13 looks at income protection models in particular. Chapter 28 page 5 looks at the importance of obtaining credible data.
