For single life annuities, we have the approximation:

    abar_x approx equal to adue_x -1/2

Does this approximation apply in exactly the same way for joint life and last survivor annuities?

    Hi Danny,
    Yes, it does indeed.
    Similarly, the "a_x = adue_x -1" and "Abar_x = (1+i)^0.5 x A_x" approximations also apply for joint life and last survivor types.
    Thanks
    Michael
