    Hi,

I find it really useful and simpler to calculate outstanding reserves in excel, then copy and paste into word. Then i always explain how the figures from excel have come about e.g. development factor =(x1+x2)/(y1+y2).
Is this allowed in the exam or would i lose marks for using excel and then explaining the maths behind it?

    Thanks in advance.

I think as far as you copy paste the table and not Insert data or paste a screenshot, it is acceptable. I have gotten marks for the same in a previous attempt.

i think the policy now allows it. page 7 of the exam handbook says "Screen shots or image capture will be accepted for marking but you will need to make sure the full working outs are visible to be marked."
