    Please can somebody explain to me the difference between a with profit arrangement and a deposit administration? Both seem to have a combination of guaranteed and bonus rates...

    That's right, they are similar.

    The differences are mainly technical (eg implicit charges in a with-profit deferred annuity, explicit for deposit administration).

    The detail used to be part of the SA4 syllabus, SA4 used to discuss this topic at length. However, all the detail was removed ~5 years ago, as these contracts are rarely issued now.

    Not an area to get bogged down with I feel.
