Initial Vs Central exposed to risk

    What i have understood about the Initial and central exposed to risk ia as below.

    with the expression for Ex initial exp. risk
    ( page 8 Ch10) and referring the waiting time defination from ch4...
    Example.
    10 male age 40 having same date of birth entering in to observation for 1 year on next day after celebrating 40th birthday. So
    1) initial exposed is 10 years.
    now suppose 4 died exactly after 6 months.
    2) central exposed is 8 years.

    What tutor says on this?
