    Hi All

I've noticed that not many people used the ST1 sections of this forum.
Are there many health actuaries out there?
And any idea where they work?

    Just asking out of curiosity!:D

There will be a protection (=health) team in most life insurance companies but to be honest most of the current quallified people in this area will have done the life fellowship route. Seems to be slowly changing - the health exams are still quite new. It's only at large reinsurance companies that I've seen people specialising in health to a sufficient degree that they'd take the health fellowship.

Hmmm surely health actuaries would be working at places like BUPA, this is non-life...

(health care used to be part of the general insurance exam)

You can find them in any large re-insurers like Swiss-Re, Munich-Re, Scor or Gen-Re, but also in large Insurance company like AXA, Norwich Union and of course the specialist providers Bupa, UNUM, etc..

It a mix of General and Life Insurance, i.e. Private Medical Insurance (PMI) is strictly speaking a GI product and Income Protection (IP), Critical Illness and Long-term care are Life Insurance products (With GI rating factors:eek: !!!)
