Graduation Null Hyphothesis

    For a goodness of fitness test can I use the following Null Hypothesis used in the summary notes:

    H0: The graduated rates are representative of the true underlying mortality rates

    I think the forms of the null hypothesis shown on page 12 of Chapter 12 are probably better (slightly less summarised).

    Or use the wording from April 2017 Examiners Report (Q10): "The graduated rates approximate closely the mortality underlying the crude rates".
