Goal Seek

Hi,

I know that valuation of investment questions are not overly common, but are we allowed to use goal seek, as long as we disclose it? For example when calculating GRY in bonds

Thank you

It's a tricky one. I'd have to say "probably yes" if a) it's not expressly forbidden by the question wording b) you give enough detail on the formula you are solving and state that you've used Goal Seek.

For something like a GRY they should be far keener that students understand what a GRY is and the formula to solve than the process to solve it itself. However, the question wording might have you lean towards a more traditional approach eg if it says "show all working".
