    the b(theta) = log u.

    How could the answer gives

    b'(theta) = u ???????

  2. so we know that

    theta = -1/mu

    Therefore
    mu = -1/theta

    b(theta) = log u
    = -log(-theta)

    b'(theta) = (-1/-theta)*-1
    = -1/theta
    = mu

    *Remember when you differentiate a log you must also differentiate the theta in brackets, in this case = -1

    Hope this helps
