    As I read through the exam solutions provided by IFoA from year 2019 to 2023, I discovered different format for a paper.

    For example,
    (i) 2019 Apr - Draft a paper for the next trustee meeting as instructed in the email from Ruth. [90]
    The format is:
    <DATE>
    <TITLE>
    1
    2
    3
    4
    5
    <NAME>

    (ii) 2022 Apr - Draft a briefing paper for the sales team as requested by the Head of Marketing. [90]
    The format is:
    To: <AUDIENCE>
    FROM: <NAME>
    <DATE>
    <TITLE>
    Introduction
    Paragraph 1
    Paragraph 2
    Paragraph 3
    Conclusion

    (iii) Apr 2023 - Draft a paper for the Climate Change Working Group that addresses the questions raised. [80]
    The format is:
    <DATE>
    <TITLE>
    Introduction
    Paragraph 1
    Paragraph 2
    Paragraph 3
    Summary

    So which one should we follow? Or either way is acceptable?

    Hi 7788,
    I'd suggest following the standard document formats shown in the references section (p120) onwards of the Course Notes.
    However, these 3 all look acceptable (note that (i) does contain a summary (it is the section 5))
    The ones that don't contain an <Audience> or <Name> header make it clear who the audience / author is within the Introduction section... and if you look at the relevant examiners report you'll see this was sufficient to gain the marks for format.
    Hope helpful,
    Michael
