    Hi

Under the corridor approach, the amortisation period is usually the expected average remaining service of the active members. However, if a scheme has no active member, can we use the expected period to retirement for the deferred members instead?

    I would appreciate your response.

    Regards, Quang

    Hi Quang

This is not covered by the Core Reading and I am unable to find up-to-date definitive information on this. However, I seem to remember that, in the past at least, if there were no active members then gains and losses could be spread over the expected future lifetime of the members.
