Hello, May someone kindly please explain what the Euro Index value is? This is discussed in the core reading under the section on the FTSE index Chapter 15 Core reading. In particular the statement says the a Euro index Value is also computed for the indices in the FTSE series and I am lost as to what this index is and it's purpose. Thanks.
Given that the FTSE Index is based on UK Companies, i would assume the Euro index Value is based on European companies - and so is especially useful for companies whose liabilities and or assets are based on euro
Hi Batsirai I've struggled to find information on this, but I think FTSE UK indices are calculated and quoted in two different currencies - GBP (ie sterling) and euro. As the GBP:Euro exchange rate will change frequently, I can imagine that the index values and returns will differ in the two currencies. You can see the data in the two currencies here: https://www.ftserussell.com/products/indices/uk Hope that helps Gresham
