    Hi all,

Please could someone clear something up for me?

On page 167 it says the observed waiting time v is alos denoted E^C_X. But on page 170 of the CMP under the section "Links to the two state markov model" it suggests that E[V]=E^C_X. Please could someone clarify which one is true, and let me know if im missing something?

    Thanks,

    Hello

Using the notation from the two-state model, we have to estimate E[V] with v (as we won't in practice know the expectation of the total waiting time random variable).

On page 170 it isn't saying that E[V] = E^C_X but rather it is making the point that as v = E^C_X, then with the two-state model we are effectively estimating E[V] with E^C_X.

    Hope this helps
