Demand Curve

    In chapter 4 textbook, in demand curve, price is taken on the vertical axis while quantity on the horizontal axis.
    Is there any specific reason for this, because in general we take independent variable on the horizontal axis while the dependent variable on the vertical axis.

    There is no particular reason for this! This has been the convention thats been followed for ages in economics!!
