In this qus., nothing is mentioned about which table to use and we need to calculate the prob. 0.5|q75 on the basis of given info- q75= 0.05 and q76= 0.06 using UDD and CFM assumptions. They have taken L75= 1000 in the solution. How do we know it?
We need to assume it as 1000? If yes, then at any age we can assume Lx as 1000.?
 
You don't need to know lx to work out probabilities. You are given the annual qx probabilities, these are all you need. You could choose any arbitrary Lx value, it doesn't have to be 1000, or you could do the calculation without using Lx values at all. If you can't see why this is the case, then do get back.
