Hi,
I have a query in in the example on page 19 of chapter 9.

Can anyone explain me the last part of it, the last equation, where we arrive at 5px (infinity)q(x+5):y(1)?

Thanks for help!

Regards,
Shyam

X to die 5 years after Y. So X needs to survive when Y dies.

\( _5P_x\) is probability that age x will survive for 5 more years.
\( _\infty q_{x+5:{y}^{1}}\) is probability that y dies before X at any time ( So infinity ) conditioning that X to die 5 years after Y's death.
To achieve this X needs to survive for 5 years after Y's death. Which is \( _5P_x\)
